Evaluation Question 7: Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task (The School Magazine Task), What Do You Feel You Have Learnt In The Progression From It To Full Product?

After using photoshop to create my school magazine i had learnt several techniques which i could expand on to use for my final piece. techinques such as Beval and outer glow helped to make images and text stand out. Also using a drop shadow creates a 3D effect on images to make them look life like and almost as if jumping off the page.
I have learnt how to cut photo's out using a quick selection tool, allowing me to delete the backround and put my own in. i also learnt how to bring images and fonts from the internet in order to make my mag new and fresh.

Overall i think i have come along way since starting this course. My skills for photoshop have developed dramatically and i think if given this task again i would complete it alot quicker and with greater ease.

Evaluation Question 6: What Have You Learnt About Technologies From The Process of Constructing This Product?

The equipment I used.

I feel i have learnt a great deal about the technologies i have used. When i first started media i had no idea how to use photoshop and i could now easily make a magazine cover. Also i think i've become a lot quicker in putting things together an using technologies to link things together on the internet. I've thoroughly enjoyed creating things.

Evaluation Question 5: How Did You Attract/Address Your Audience?

I think i was succesful in creating a magazine which attracts the audience. The colours of the magazine are bright to fit the theme of that particular issue. This will interest the reader and make them want to know more. if i were to actually produce this magazine each magazine would be a different colour scheme in order to fit the featured artist. This would also interest the readers and keep them entertained with a fresh new look every week. Although the mast head will always stay the same style.

Evalutation Question 4: Who Would Be The Audience For Your Media Product?

My magazine has been aimed at men and women aged from about 16-early 20's. I think my mag is aimed at this category well. I think my magazine is possible aimed and woman 60-70% and men 30-40% but when looking at magazines such as 'Kerrang!' we realise that the difference between men and women reading it is not as high as excpected. I think the ratio of men and women buying my magazine depends on the issue itself, if the featured artist was a male artist such as Eminem, Bruno Mars or Ed Sheeran then you are more likely to get males buy that issue whereas my issue or an issue featuring a female artist would attract female readers. The magazine is aimed at all genre's although it will most likely attract more Indie fans as thats what the mag specialises in.

Evaluation Question 3: What Kind of Media Institution Might Distribute Your Media Product and Why?

Even though Billboard was the main magazine i researched it appeared to be its own publisher, but as i wasnt sure i have chosen not to use it for this question. Looking at other magazines i think that media institutions such as 'IPC'. I think this because my magazine is rather like'NME' but perhaps looking at a wider selection of artists. My magazine focus's on Indie artists but also brings in any music genre. I think theres a gap in the market for a more general magazine aimed at a younger age and it think that IPC would be interested in this as my magazine also includes upcoming acts.

Evaluation Question 2: How Does Your Media Product Represent Particular Social Groups?

I will use my front cover against a Billboard front cover to explain how my magazine represents particular social groups.

Both of the girls are facing the camera with a smile on their face, both holding their guitars. In both pictures the guitar seems to be a main aspect of thr artist, displaying the fact thay they write their own music and are independant artists. Both of them are in the sunshine. Although my artist is facing the front fully which could give her a more approachable look whereas Billboards artist appears to be walking away but looking over her shoulder. I chose to take the backround out of my picture because i felt it took away focus on my artist, in Billboard it very much makes the artist.

My magazine is aimed at men and women in their mid teens to early 20's. By using my artist 'Chloe Clover'  i think i have represented this well. The magazine it aimed at men and women although overall if i were to put the mag on sale i think figures would show women having a greater interest. When questioned about the magazine both boys and girls of my age said they'd read it.

The colour scheme for my magazine changes depending on the artist feature in that issue. Therefore this issue is green and white as Chloe Clover is Irish and i kept to this theme the whole way through the magazine. The competition on the front will attract older and younger crowds as the prize could appeal to many people.

Evaluation Question 1: In What Ways Does Your Media Product Use, Develop or Challenge Forms and Conventions of Real Media Products?

Title and Mis-En-Scene

The name i decided to call my magazine is 'BrokenSoul'. I came up with this name after seeing the music from the artist 'Adele' being described as this. I felt it was very fitting for my magazine as my magazine is aimed at people in their late teens and they could understand the meaning of the title. Although my magazine is not a soul magazine it fits because my magazine is about all music genre's very in depth (broken down).

'Billboard' Magazine And How It Inspired Me

I chose 'BillBoard' as my main inspiration because i didnt want to use a magazine which many people would use.I wanted to create a magazine that looks at all music genres and i feel in some ways this made my task harder  because I had to make sure the magazine didn't seem like it was aimed at a certain genre.

Music Magazine Front Cover..

School Magazine Front Cover and Contents.

For my preliminary I decided to make a magzine which focuses year 11 students and leading into sixth form. My magazine inclued many things which the students would be intereested in serious and non serious. The colour scheme i felt was successful for attracting students, and small things such as colouring the 'Litter issues' in red helps to seperate the good things from the bad things in the magazine. I used Photoshop CS5 to create both front cover and contents page and i made sure that both were the same style.
